What on earth is a frag? Ahhh. Perhaps you are new to the site?

A frag, short for fragment, is a literary stream of consciousness standing microcosmically on its own, yet pointing to much, much larger picture. At two hundred words or less, with a title of three words...or less, the object is to capture mood, story, character development, tone, just about anything usually associated with writing, and smash it into an extremely compact form.

For some, a frag is a short poem. For others, frags are narratives. I knew of a man who once used his frags as diary entries, and another as small prayers to an unseen, unheard, higher consciousness. So you see, the definition of a frag, other than the very strict technical characteristics (200 words or less, title of 3 words or less), lies within the abilities and the vision of the fragxter.

You might note comments on some of the pieces. This is available to members of the site who've been entered as "newbies" or higher. How do you become a member of the site? You might want to explore the 'Joining the herd' link. How do you become a 'scribe' or higher? Ah. Another great question. Let's just say it's pretty subjective, but the jump from newbie to scribe, and scribe to shaker, involves multiple postings, multiple comments, and a perceived commitment to one's work.

Enjoy the site. Enjoy the work.
